My First Critic!
January 14th, 2008 | by Nick |I’ve been working on the next comic and was checking the comments on the Thinkweasel website. When I was going through deleting all the “male enhancement” comments, I noticed a real critic! They posted this:
“I dont get your cartoons at all - they just arent funny”
Granted, they didn’t have the guts to use a real email address, but it was my first real critic! Up until this point, I’ve had my friends comment that they’ve enjoyed my strips and I have been VERY grateful for it. I even had my first fan last year when I was putting out some ThinkWeasel samplers at the Atlanta Comic Con!
Still, there is something amusing about getting a rise out of someone enough for them to post a criticism. I wish to get a response out of people, good or bad. Usually, if I don’t like something, I’ll just keep surfing without comment. So, someone was trying to take a jab, I suppose. Too bad for them that I really don’t give a damn.
I wish to entertain people, but I already know where my ability stands. I do this first for myself and everybody else second. I have waited too long to use the talents I have for drawing, I will no longer. Critics are a small price to pay for putting my stuff out in the world.
