Friday Wrap-Up

July 11th, 2008 | by Nick |

We made it through another week. We’re both kinda sad right now, but also excited about the trip in LESS THAN A WEEK AND A HALF. We’re working on the logistics of the trip this weekend, when we’re not going to see friends get married.

The Friday comic is uploaded, so the happy part of the day is taken care of. I like humor, I love the idea of helping people laugh at the silliness of life. Part of the reason is that I can be a pretty morose bastard sometimes.

It’s part of the baggage carried from when you see you dad die at 6 years old, you realize that the world isn’t as bright and happy as you’re supposed to think it is. When you realize it that young, you get to spend PLENTY of quality time thinking about mortality, when you SHOULD otherwise be deciding which Transformer you’re gonna buy from the store next week.

I’ve been thinking about TIME more than I’d like to recently. There are many reasons, the cat I’ve had for 8 years is missing. My friend is in town from England that reminds me of the passion I has an eternity ago. I’m going to see my grandparents in California in a short time and they are in their FUCKING 90’s. I’m listening to The Crow soundtrack from 14 YEARS AGO. It’s been 10 years since my mother died and I had the Year of HELL. Jesus…these things and so many more that remind me of how old I am, or how old I feel sometimes…

Last night when we were watching the Indiana Jones movie…I was thinking of how old everybody looked and one line came up; “If you live long enough, life stops giving things to you and starts taking them.” It’s true, I’ve felt it.

That’s why I try to laugh. It’s hard to laugh at life when you realize how much it can suck, but it’s worth it. Off to SCI-FI Friday.
