Sick, Insomnia

Between this “head cold / sinus infection / whatever the fuck it is” and lack of sleep, it’s been damned hard to focus on things the past couple weeks.

Finally getting some sleep and feeling better, so I can brain a little better now. Been working on wrapping up the business of the old year and starting the work of the new year, pretty much the usual theme.

November Already?

Damn, the end of the year seems to be going faster than the beginning!

Lots going on, just been too busy to write about it. Currently, my body is trying to figure out if it has food poisoning, a sinus infection or both. Either way, I’m feeling pretty crappy right now.

I plan to get some rest and post more soon.

Con Crud & 9/11

It’s been one week since the end of my last DragonCon and only now I’m finally feeling better. The bugs passed around the Convention (fondly referred to as Con Crud), kicked our asses but good this year. Up until now, it’s taken all of my energy to get through the day in the most basic way. Now, I felt normal for at least part of today.
It’s also the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I won’t go into what I was doing (or what I thought) at the time. I now just wonder how the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq will be judged by history. I suspect it will be a harsher judgement than I once imagined a few years ago.

Finally Getting Better

Here it is, almost two weeks to the day since that last post. Boy, I didn’t expect this snotfest to continue for so long!

The pollen continued to mess with us that entire week. By the time Friday rolled around, we were both pretty miserable and even cancelled going to Trek Trax that weekend because of it. This was a big thing, because we went so far as to buy a table in a show of support for the second year of this event. Table aside, there was no way we could have done it. So we ate the cost and stayed home, trying to get better. This was Angela’s time of filling the wastebaskets with tissues.

The problem for both of us was that it was becoming more than an allergic reaction. Angela was coughing so hard that she was starting to get bronchitis and mostly lost her voice for days. I was just kept feeling worse as the week passed and by Wednesday night, we finally knew why. Taking my temperature, we discovered for the first time in years I had a fever of 101F! The next two days I stayed home from work to rest and finally the fever broke Friday night. Since Wednesday, its been my time for filling the wastebaskets with tissues.

Its been a long road back to feeling better for the both of us, but I think we’re finally making progress.
