The Packing, AIGH!

Now we come to the final hours before packing. Today the kitchen was finished off and almost all the electrical outlets and switches replaced. Finally all the painting crap is off the floor and everything has been mopped.

We are both tired as Hell and its time for a good night’s sleep before getting the truck tomorrow morning.

Still More Painting

Got off to a slow start today, THEN went through traffic hell to get something to eat! Finally ended up at the Old Hickory House for lunch. The food wasn’t the best, but it WAS open (who knew that IHOP closed on Chirstmas Eve?). Crescent Moon is going to be opening a new location in the area and I think they will do well with this competition.

Made yet another run to Home Depot (not the last I’m sure) and then dropped Angela off so she could do some food shopping for tonight. Kroger, of course, was a madhouse. Worse still, the only Egg Nogg they had left was low fat! What part would make it light, less “egg” or less “nogg”?

We finished the touch up on the Living Room and Dining Room finally. We were also able to get the bedroom painted too (mauve, not pink). The paneling is a pain in the ass to paint and is taking longer than expected. I’d like to have a talk with the first person who decided to cover it! Still, the bedroom is done except for the touch up. Angela then went home to get dinner started while I finished up things.

Our Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful. I came home from painting to find a warm home and fantastic meal (Angela IS a great cook!). As she finished up, I called family to wish them a Merry Christmas.

More Painting

Worked on Monday but was able to get my time off approved. I am now off (but still on call) until January! This is a good thing since there is PLENTY of work to do before moving in. Of course, there will be even more to do when we DO move, but one step at a time…

We finished up the Dining Room today and got a start on the Kitchen. We still continue to spend at Home Depot and expect a Christmas card from them any day now. We have some pics up of our progress with the house in my Gallery go take a look!

Painting Blues

Got a slow start yesterday. Didn’t sleep too well and had to take a nap in the afternoon to get functioning. Still, the work on the house began.

Today we got the Living Room done! This was also Angela’s second round of “Oh my God, we’re never going to finish in time” panic. It passed quickly though and we spent enough at Home Depot today to personally move the stock up about $2 a share.

Can you say we’re officially going domestic when we buy our first ladder?

House Closing

WE ARE HOMEOWNERS!

The closing was easier than we feared, it was almost anti-climatic. If you are ever in the need of a closing attourney, I would recommend these guys. They were very laid back and funny during the whole thing.

On the other hand, traffic sucked. It took us longer to get back home then it did to close on the house!
